Helping Sharing the Dream Help Others


I always told my students and my own kids that life is full and rewarding, when you contribute to your community, your nation and your world.   Some might ask, “How do I contribute to my world? I don’t want to travel to a foreign country and I don’t have much money to donate.”  

There are many ways to help the people in Guatemala, and you don’t have to leave your community, perhaps not even your home.  Here are some ways to help Sharing the Dream in Guatemala.

• Donate your gently used lap top computer or iPad.  This will help our staff and our scholarship students.
• Donate used cell phones, especially if they have a camera or a sim card. This will help our artisan groups.
• Donate air travel miles so we can bring a staff member or an artisan to the states to tell their story and promote  Sharing the Dream.
• If you have old jewelry with glass or stone beads, the bead group could repurpose them into the beautiful jewelry we sell.
• If you have designs for purses, clothes etc. that our artisan development group might use, please send them to us.
• Have a sale of our beautiful crafts in your home, church, school or at a community event.  It’s easy; we will send you the crafts and all the instructions. This is one of the best ways to help the artisans in Guatemala sustain their families. 
• If you love to cook, create a special meal, invite friends and charge a donation that can go to one of our projects in Guatemala.
• Volunteer at the store in Vermillion. Even two hours a week is helpful.
