12" Strainer Spoon
This strainer spoon is hand-carved using tropical hardwood. It measures 12" in length and 4" wide at the bowl. The wood used to make the spoons is purchased as cast-offs from carpentry shops or collected in the jungle. The spoons are finished in beeswax and are food-safe. Each spoon is unique due to the piece of wood used to make the product.
This fair trade item was handcrafted by the group, The Spoonmakers of Peten. They started in 2002 with 4 families and have now expanded to a cooperative of 11 families. Many of the members of the group are health promoters in their communities and a percentage of their sales is donated to health programs.
