This Rice Paddle is great for serving rice and so much more! Hand-carved using tropical hardwood, this paddle has a round handle and a large, almost-flat bowl. The paddle measures approximately 10" in length and the bowl measures approximately 3" at its widest point. The wood used to make the paddles is purchased as cast-offs from carpentry shops or collected in the jungle. The paddles are finished in beeswax and are food-safe. Each paddle is unique due to the piece of wood used to make the product.

This fair trade item was handcrafted by the group, The Spoonmakers of Peten. They started in 2002 with 4 families and have now expanded to a cooperative of 11 families. Many of the members of the group are health promoters in their communities and a percentage of their sales is donated to health programs.
