14" Strainer Spoon
These strainer spoons are not only great for cooking, but they look beautiful, too! Made from hand-carved tropical hardwood, these spoons measure approximately 14" in length. The wood used to make the spoons is purchased as cast-offs from carpentry shops or collected in the jungle. The spoons are finished in beeswax and is food-safe. They are made entirely by hand with no power tools used. Each spoon is unique due to the piece of wood used to make the product.
This fair trade item was handcrafted by the group, The Spoonmakers of Peten. They started in 2002 with 4 families and have now expanded to a cooperative of 11 families. Many of the members of the group are health promoters in their communities and a percentage of their sales is donated to health programs.
