Provide a nutritious meal for all 60+ elders who are a part of the Elder Center.
Sharing the Dream operates an Elder Center in Santiago Atitlan for more than 60 Maya elders living in extreme poverty. The majority of the elders have been widowed or lost other close family members to war, natural disaster, or illness. Their remaining family often cannot bear the financial burden of support, or worse still, actively shun and abuse the elders.
The Elder Center is a place of hope for the elders in the program. Three times a week, we provide a hot, nutritious meal for the elders. The meals are so much more than just daily nutrition, they remind the elders that they're not forgotten.
