On December 22, we celebrated Christmas at the Elder Center. This is a holiday celebrated around the world. It is really a big event at the Elder Center because this is all the elders have during the holiday season. 

Chonita, Bernabela, Carmen and Felipa came yesterday from about 7am-8pm to make tamales. They worked really hard organizing the activities and tamales for the elders. The next day the elders came. While we waited, Chonita talked to them about how the Elder Center started. Some of the elders were really interested and didn’t know how the Elder Center started. The elders then prayed and thanked God for the center, the Sharing the Dream staff and their sponsors. The elders said that God had sent angels to them (the Sharing the Dream staff and their sponsors).

First, we did some activities with the elders. We did some dancing and then we gave them their presents. Some of the elders enjoyed dancing. For their presents they received two tamales, a corte (a traditional skirt) or a shirt (for the men).

Thank you to everyone in the U.S. who sponsors an elder and who gave money for the party and presents. It really means a lot to the elders.
