Humberto Humberto
is a highly skilled craftsman who makes the traditional wooden carved
ornaments which are characteristic of Santiago Atitlán. The
intricate designs are popular both in Guatemala and around the
world. As the quantity of wood used is very little, he is
able to use what is left from the wood merchants and other carpenters
to make his puzzles, sculptures and ornaments in the shape of different
animals. He works with several youths who are able to pay their
school costs through the income that they earn. |
